Division reference by birth year
Age is determined by your player's age on July 31 of the program year end. The ranges below show eligible birth years for each season.

How age groups are determined
AYSO determines age group eligibility based on your player's age on July 31 of the end of the program year. The program year runs August 1 through July 31. Both the Fall Extra and Spring Select seasons within a program year use the same age group for a given player.
For example, for the 2026–2027 program year (Fall 2026 and Spring 2027), a player's age is calculated as of July 31, 2027. A player who turns 10 before August 1, 2027 is eligible for 10U.
Leeward Select fields teams in 10U, 12U, 14U, and 19U. Players who are 8 or under, or 20 or older as of the reference date are outside our divisions.
Note on upcoming rule changes
AYSO periodically updates the national age matrix and program year eligibility rules. This calculator reflects the current rules as of the 2025–2026 program year. If you are planning ahead for Fall 2026 or later, verify your player's eligibility directly with Region 269 or on the AYSO national website before the start of the season.
